Is there a pumpkin shortage in your area?
http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/60431222.html

I'm ready for pumpkin pie, but there is no pumpkin to be had in my area stores.
:-(

1. Our pumpkin patch down the road is full of them
I think there's a shortage on canned pumpkin from low harvest last year. I wanted to get some the other day at TJ's and none to be had. I didn't check the big stores yet. They'll be ripe in a week or so --I might just have to roast my own.

2. I think most stores don't expect people to eat them
and only start stocking them after the first week of October so they won't rot before Halloween.

I've had a craving for Mexican candied pumpkin lately.

6. Yes, there is. I went to 3 stores looking for canned pumpkin last week
and was unable to find any. One of the clerks told me the pumpkin crops this year were lousy.
