any one wonders what I've been up to. and the heat has finally broken around here, time to start up my NYT bread again and I should be switching schedules in October so I plan to start buying food in some of the other aisles in the supermarket, it's been the frozen section all the way this summer

:hi:

1. Great to see your post this a.m., and I look forward to seeing
you around here more often. The changes you made in your home are beautiful. I esp. like the color of your bedroom--so soothing and restful, easy on the eyes.

7. hey you!!!!!
Edited on Thu Sep-24-09 07:47 PM by NMDemDist2
well, I don't know how much I'll be cooking but I did buy some 'real' groceries today and some cantaloupe and watermelon fresh out of the fields (I love this time of year!)

you haven't lived until you've had a fresh Pecos cantaloupe!!

and I got a Jubilee watermelon too, a Texas favorite :bounce:

edit to add this wonderful recipe I found....

Watermelon, Cantaloupe and Red Pepper Salsa

1 pound watermelon
1 pound cantaloupe
1/2 red bell pepper
1/2 small sweet onion
1/3 cup packed fresh cilantro sprigs
1/2 fresh jalapeno pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

Remove rinds and seeds from melons and cut fruit into 1/4-inch cubes. Cut bell pepper into 1/4-inch pieces. Finely chop onion and cilantro and wearing rubber gloves, finely chop jalapeno with seeds.

In a bowl, toss together all ingredients and season with salt. Salsa may be made 4 hours ahead and chilled covered. Makes about 4 cups.
