Are you watching "The Next Food Network Star?"....
I think it's been very interesting. I have enjoyed watching how they actually produce a cooking show and what goes on behind the scenes. It looks hard to do!

Anyone else watching?

1. I've heard of it, but never watched. What network, day, and time?

2. Food Network. Sunday nights at 9 eastern....
although they show repeats during the week and just before the new show. I think there have only been three episodes so far.

They did one show where they purposely had things go wrong just to see if the contestants could stand on their feet in front of the camera.

So far, I'm inclined to believe several of the contestants would make excellent show hosts.

3. I've been watching it
Ummmmmmm. It's production values leave something to be desired. I like Hans, though, and the gay couple. I think they want me to believe the former fatty is great, but I don't need to see another show starring someone with terrible knife skills and little imagination (she's like Rachael Ray crossed with Mr. Low Carb and Loving It).

Some of these people are utterly worthless as far as I can tell. No inspiring food ideas have passed through the lips of too many of them.

6. I think that guy will win also
He's very funny. That woman who lost all the wieght is a Rachel Ray clone - the resemblance is remarkable.

7. I am
I think the curly haired guy has the best personality, but Hans seems the most knowledgable. Harmony is awful, I was embarrassed for her in the first episode. She should have been eliminated before Brook.

8. You were right!....(spoiler)
The "fun" guy just couldn't handle the technical part of cooking.

9. I agree with the judges' choices so far.
Although I liked Eric, he wasn't good in front of the camera. I think Hans and the couple (I forget their names) are the best chefs. But I don't know what they could bring that's different. Hans has kind of a southern flair thing going on, and that's already done by Paula Deen. And Suzanne doesn't fit in because there are already a ton of low-fat cooking shows on that network. I wonder who they will go with.

13. True...
I want to like Susannah, but I'm not sure what she would bring to the network.

It seems like the judges really like Hans, but you're right... what does he have that's different?

11. If the couple (Dan & Steve) can hang in there, I say they win
they are really more unique than any of the others in the fact that it is a duo. If they can continue to play off each other in their so far funny way, and not blow it technically, they are hands down what I think the network is looking for...they would bring a show to the Food Network that is different from all the others they have.

I thought Eric might have had a chance, but he could not bring his personality with him like he needed during the technical parts of the challenge...when he did, he blew the technical parts. Susannah (the Rachel Ray look alike) is just plain bad, and Deborah (the former TV actress) just ACTS too much...not natural at all.

Hans has great knowledge, and last week he seemed to show some personality...he just comes off a little too stand-offish I think, but I think it will come down to he and the duo of Dan & Steve in the end.

The final show is this Sunday, 9:00 PM EST with Rachel Ray as they develop a mini plot and film. The audience will vote the winner, which again leads me back the Dan & Steve.

BTW, I am not a reality TV show junkie, however, I AM a Food Network junkie, which explains my narrative (hopefully)

Now why did I think that needed explanation? Heh Heh :)

Congratulations to Dan & Steve!

This was a fun series, I'm curious to see their shows starting in September.

16. I bet they'll be all polished up before September....
I voted for Deborah although I still can't believe she knocked Hans out of it! His rapid fire talking did him in.

I'm thinking we might see more of the finalists though.

17. They were the best!
They did have a bit of an advantage, though. The fact that there are two of them! I'm looking forward to their show. With a bit of polishing they'll be fun to watch.
