Regulator failure???
My computer just black screened with a message "regulator failure".

Honest.

Luckily I'm transferring files to a laptop today, but I was going to send this computer to my son. So, kind of need to know what this is all about before I do that.

Anybody ever heard of a computer with a "regulator failure".

1. Never seen one but
The error sounds like your PC's power supply. It's not a normal Windows message.

2. Regulator failure
I think that started flashing on all of Enron's computer screens a few years back.

Sorry, can't help you as I've never seen it either but I agree with the previous poster. Sounds like a power supply problem and your system board detected an undervoltage or overvoltage.

Probably something you want to have taken care of soon.

5. No
But I do think I've got an Asus motherboard. I'll show this to the DH because this is exactly what happened, I was working in Adobe. Can't send this to my kid like this. Thanks so much. I put in computer regulator failure and kept getting car sites. :( You're a better googler!

Thanks everybody!!!

4. Could be a motherboard failure.
On some desktop motherboards the CPU voltage regulator is a replaceable unit, but without knowing what kind of computer you have, it's hard to say. You should call the manufacturer or visit their website for assistance.

6. agreed, probably the motherboard
there is a voltage regulator that stops the CPU burning out, overheating etc. Overclockers get this problem all the time because they mess around with the CPU throttling to get higher speeds.

However, your regulator has probably just blown because if you were an overclocker you'd know about these things. The module can be replaced btw.
