iMac G5. This is a beautiful machine. Almost completely silent after having my hearing assaulted by those wind tunnels they call heatsink fans. Very pleasant computing.

Huge widescreen monitor. In fact the monitor IS the computer. The whole thing is only two inches thick.

Frankly, I was leary of the software available for the mac, but so far I have seen nothing the windows machine can do that the mac can't. And almost all of it is built in to the OS. And it's bulletproof. Can you imagine turning the computer off just by pressing the power button?

All you apple users who were extolling the mac were right.

There may come a time when I go back to windows but it won't be this year.

1. I welcome you as you leave the Dark Side
Come to the MacIntosh forum and seek ye information about your lovely machine. It will bring you YEARS of absolute joys. When I bought my Powerbook in 2003, the salesperson told me that the average age of a Mac was seven years. Wow!

Be sure to go up to the blue apple on you computer and in the menu run software update.
There should be a security update in there.

Enjoy your machine.

3. Thanks to both. This machine is a kick.

Now my wife wants a mini-me to replace her windows machine in the kitchen. We went to the Apple store Tuesday to buy my imac and she saw the cute little thing. She said something like "That's the whole computer?" and developed and instant want.

Well, maybe next month. Of course that will mean another windows machine I won't have to constantly fix.

I'm amazed at how easy this system is to learn.

Just thought: It's good the mini is getting such good reviews and sales. Maybe it means that the user base of macs will increase substantially. If it reaches 8-10 percent we'll see a lot more hardware and software being made for it and that's not bad!
