Browser/Gmail question. Help me before my head explodes.
I cannot get into gmail from IE, but I can from Netscape. If I shut down my computer, then turn it back on, I can get into gmail from IE, but if I refresh the page, I get a blank page. WTF? I'm almost positive it's IE---rat bastards--but how do I solve that? Shitcan IE and use Netscape, or might there be something more sinister going on?

BTW, Mr. Gray logs in as a second user and has the same problem, plus I cannot get Netscape to stay open on his side. It keeps giving me there is a problem message.

I am ready to murderize myself.

1. Same thing happened to me at work today
I'm at home now on my laptop and it seems to work at the moment.

I'm guessing it was something on the Gmail servers, maybe some code modifications done behind the scenes that didn't quite work right. I'd expect the Google geniuses to resolve the issue soon.

2. I did a websearch for gmail problems and one site had a lot of
entries from people over the last week having the exact same problem. No one had an answer, of course.

3. Okay, now it is happening on my laptop...
It worked for a few refreshes and now it is happening here too.

I think it was working fine last night. At any rate, this is a big problem! I still think the impetus is on the Google people to fix it. I wonder if those guys work on weekends.

6. Try Firefox since Netscape is losing all support shortly. It sounds like a google css problem. n/t

9. Is that true about Netscape?
I use both Netscape and Firefox as browsers but years ago I made Netscape the custodian, as it were, of my email (rather than Earthlink, which is my ISP). I successfully moved my email setting to a new computer with a Netscape upgrade (and I've always liked the way the Netscape mailbox handles my email) but how do I change to something else (Thunderbird or Earthlink, I guess) without messing everything up?

12. thunderbird is a netscape clone
It's actually a design that Netscape borrowed from Mozilla.

I just installed Thunderbird for a old Netscape 7 because Netscape 7 would not support authenication the right way for a client of mine.

He's happy with the way that Thunderbird is working.

8. I use firefox & I've been having problems for the couple of weeks
or so.

I get the "this page is taking longer than normal to load" BS. I've done everything gmail has suggested, each about 3 times & am now resigned to waiting a few minutes to load.

10. Have you tried logging into https://gmail.google.com
That works fine for me in IE 6. I can refresh numerous times with no issues.

11. I use Gmail all the time in FireFox.
I haven't had any problems. I do log into the https: site. I had a problem a couple of years ago until I started using the secure site. That eliminated any issues. Try that.
