What is the purpose of sun java JRE |
|
I'm on a clean nlite install of xp and I downloaded and installed java jre plug-in 1.6.0_03. At the moment I have it disabled and I find everything still works fine. My question is what do I need it for anyway??? I sure wanted to do without anything adobe but find I must have it but so far haven't found anything I need sun java for. Do I maybe just want to uninstall it??? TIA peace and have a great day

I think I'll leave it disabled for a few days to see if there is any reason to absolutely keep it otherwise it will be tossed. I use testmy.net to keep an eye on my slow speed ;-) and it works fine with out java. I'm in a getting rid of the unnecessary files and programs tizy right now. Our dsl is rather slow at best and by diligent ferreting out bottle necks and correcting or removing them has put some new zip into the web surfing though. In that vein if you or anyone else has any suggestions and or info that may help me in that endeavor I will greatly appreciate it ;-)

3. You may need it for OpenOffice, I'm not sure if it will run with MS .Net which is MS's replacement |

5. I've had it turned off now for 3 days and so far nothing has needed it |
|
I guess it won't hurt anything for it to just set there just in case. I've turned off many of the add-ons to no bad effect so far and to a more snappier ie7. I think I noticed a difference when I turned off ssvhelper class, sun microsystems.
