1080i vs 1080p as a computer monitor |
|
I can't find much on the internet, oddly, but if a LCD TV can do 1080i, won't it display the full 1080i resolution without any distortions? (jagged text, et cetera)

A 1080i tv will display 1080i without distortion.. A 1080i tv will not display 1080p. A 1080p tv will display 1080i without distortion.

You might be looking at the advertising. Generally speaking, LCD's are progressive displays. My 720p LCD HDTV/Monitor can "do" 1080i because it down converts it to 720p.
You want to see what the native resolution is, it should be listed. 1080p LCD HDTV's are still pretty expensive as they are relatively new to the market.
