I would like to use it for documents and movies. Don't want to spend more than $750.00.

3. I like Dell outlet

You can get them cheap (I have a scratch and dent that I saved about $500 on) and the scrtch is only visble under the right light and looks like a hair landed on it.

http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&lob=INSP&MODEL_DESC=Inspiron%201520&s=dfh

I recommend using the following search criteria:

model -- Inspiron 1520 (intel core 2 duo)

min memory -- 2000 (you could get by with as little as 1000, but don't recommend it.)

video card --- 256 (it is really sluggish in vista without it IMO)

I'd recommend Vista home premium, but vista home basic is probably fine.

There is one out there right now for $779. (this changes constantly)

Make sure you get one that can at least read DVDs!

I strongly reccomend you find one with at least a 4MB of L2 cache (typically a 7300 processsor) --it will say under the view details link (on the left).

If you plan to use blue-ray you can get one, but it'll be a lot more than $750. You'll need an intel 7500 processor (I think) -- try putting intel core 2 duo - 2200 in the processor field fot that)

5. Vista
The Windows operating system that replaced XP.

There s a lot of negative opinions of it, but I have no problem with it. It is a memory hog, but if you have enough, it's fine. (that is why recommend the 2Gigabyte setting in the filter).

6. One other thing
The Dell inspiron models have 15.4 screen (wide screen) You can get a 17" screen with a dell XPS model laptop, but it is way more expensive. I suggest ed the inspiron 1520 because it is cheaper, but still an intel core 2 duo.
