Weird mouse problem.
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 01:00 PM by wakemeupwhenitsover
I have the cordless keyboard & mouse. I think it's P/S 2. The mouse has a base to recharge it. I think I've had it about 3 years. The batteries stopped holding a charge so I went out & bought new batteries. The new set lasted 2 days. And now won't recharge. I set the mouse on the charger & the green light didn't come on, just a steady red light. I wiggled it, twisted it, put it on, took it off, nothing. Just a steady red light.

Any ideas? I haven't changed any software or added any hardware. I went to Logitech's help site, but couldn't find any answers.

ETA I also checked the connections & couldn't find anything.

1. How about the battery? Could it be defective?

2. Try cleaning the recharging contacts
on both the mouse and the base unit.

3. I'll try that. I think that logitech's site said to use an eraser.
Is that right?

5. Okay. I went to clean them & figured out what the problem is:
one of the connectors on the button of the mouse is gone.

6. That could certainly cause a problem!
About that eraser suggestion - yes, that's a very good way to clean electrical contacts. If you have them, that is. ;-)

7. I meant to post that 'one of the connectors on the
bottom of the mouse is missing.

I couldn't believe that I found a #2 pencil with an eraser in my desk. I know that DH & I have one in a very special place because we vote by mail & have to use it. We stuck the only one we could find in a safe place.

OMG, maybe it ended up in my desk. I had best run downstairs & put it in its special place.
