Is there still a way to add the du button to my Google toolbar?
I have it there now,but last time I looked at the available google buttons, the DU one was no longer available. I am switching from IE6 to Firefox, and I really like my DU button. Will I be able to carry it over? Thanks..

1. Firefox has a Bookmarks toolbar
Are you talking about "Google Buttons" or just a regular DU link on the toolbar?

If you just want a button that takes you to the DU, you should not need the Google toolbar at all. Just make sure the Bookmarks toolbar is on in the menu (View->Toolbars->Bookmarks Toolbar). Then you can drag and drop the URL's icon onto the toolbar.

IE also has a Favorites toolbar that does the same thing.

2. for IE, yes...
I believe that the XML for the button, hosted on DU is
broken... but you can create your own with the following:
Open Google Toolbar's "Manage" option,
Select "Custom Buttons",
Click "Add More...",
Select a button from the Gallery, such as CNN and click the
"Add Button",
close the gallery window,
find the button that you just added and click
"Edit",
Click the "Advanced" link,
A window will open with XML contents of the button,
replace the contents with the following XML content...

<custombuttons
xmlns="http://toolbar.google.com/custombuttons/">
  <button>

<search>http://www.google.com/search?q={query}+site%3Awww.democraticunderground.com</search>

<update>http://www.democraticunderground.com/du-google-button.xml</update>
    <!-- ChromeFoundry - 2006 -->
  </button>
</custombuttons>

...
click the "Save to Google Toolbar" button,
Click "replace" button.
Click the "Close Window" button.
Close the Manage window...

The button should now be available in the Google toolbar.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

3. Thanks! So I assume that means a no-go in Firefox, however?
's ok, I may stick with IE on the laptop and Firefox on the desktop.
Thanks so much!!
