AVG Free 7.5 AV and Vista |
|
I am running AVG Free Anti-virus 7.5 on a Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop with Vista Home Premium 32. I removed the Norton software that came with the Dell as soon as I got it. AVG has been running fine but of late I am getting an annoying message that AVG wants to display a message on my desktop. When I allow AVG to display the message it is a nag to update to their version 8.0. Version 8.0 is the new paid version. The message pops up again about every 5 minutes. I do not see any way to tell it to quit nagging me. Apparently, AVG 7.5 is not completely compatible with Vista and is not letting the message pop up w/o permission. Is anyone else running AVG 7.5 on Vista?
I am about ready to try another free AV program that I saw recommended here a while back. I will have to search and find it in the past threads.

Avast was the AV software that was recommended in an earlier discussion. Thanks.

I removed AVG on my 3 PC's and loaded Avast. AVG was becoming annoying nagging me to pay to upgrade to 8.0. I like Avast so far.
