1. Looks like a great opportunity!!!!
A few comments though. First, I found the forums at Sparkfun.com to have a lot of good and extremely knowledgeable electronics people. They are truly into it for the passion of their work and won't steer you wrong.

I'd also like to appeal to your altruistic nature, in that, there may be people out there who are not yet quite 'supertechs' or 'experience RF engineers' who could nevertheless learn on the job, for lack of any other available opportunities like you are providing. People who consider themselves 'supertechs' will probably also ask for 'super dollars'. I think (and I'm a nobody, so keep that in mind) that the most valuable finds would be people willing to dedicate the time to a project with the shared hope that it will become the next greatest thing. I've got my own electronics project, and I'd love to get involved in something like this but like most people I'm committed to a full time job and my own work. And I know it's hard to find people who are simultaneously available and passionate about developing electronic innovations.

Do you design electronics yourself, or are you just asking other to do it for you? My greatest challenge is simply finding the time and isolation I need to be able to work on my projects.

2. I have nothing to do with this job.
This was sent to me by a real legend in the computer industry, who now works for this company. It is a real company involved in robotics and radio control. There is no real speculation involved here, just a going and growing concern looking for the right folks.

I might add that this friend, the legend, is also a very laid back guy and that is reflected in his shop.

3. Okay then.. he's legend.

I guess I would ask the same questions of him, but since he's a legend I guess that makes him inaccessible to us common folk.

Edit: Sorry for the attitude but this really seems straightforward elitism and lack of regard for people who are just starting out -- I mean, no wonder kids are not interested in technology. There are no inroads, with ads that disregard people who aren't already supertechs or super experienced in some obscure field for which there are no starting jobs. No wonder kids don't care about learning anything, since once they take their first step, they are bombarded with ads like this that immediately imply they are eternally inadequate.

4. Look, I agree.
I have run into that a lot lately, since I am looking for work and changing careers. I know exactly what you are saying. But I don't make the news, I only report it. This is presently a small company and only has so many slots open and are looking for a very specific skill set from someone who can hit the ground running.

5. I'm on a different wavelength
I wish I could tell the guy (I mean the legend) that job applicants often like to know A) how much money the job offers, B) what company is hiring, and C) where the job is located. To me anyway that is my top concerns, when it comes to run of the mill employment. When it comes to a truly revolutionary opportunity, I might forgo those mundane considerations.

But it sounds more like a rich home owner looking for the best gardner to impress his neighbors, willing to pay top dollar, but also willing to go through a middle man in order to get it, without any real concern for the gardner, or gardening, or anyone who cares about gardening. Just an analogy.

I wish I could ask the guy for some investment money, because I'm guessing the product I'm working on has great potential.

6. You're way off mark on this.
The post is intended to draw the attention of any here who might have the qualifications and interest in learning more. Since you have neither and it is not meant for you, the other details are really, as Jesse said, moot. I have a good idea about who the "legend" is, and a second guess as a back-up. Working with either would be worth whatever risk was involved, even if the only result was a Pyhrric adventure.
