Gateway XP-Home
I'm having problems with my computer frequently treating a single-click as a double-click. I've tried adjsuting the double-click speed in the Control Panel->Mouse settings, but the problem seems to actually get worse whether I set it faster OR slower.
I have had this problem before and switched to a different mouse. This temporarily improved the situation, but over time it has creeped up again.
Ideas?

2. You might be able to get around this problem before replacing the mouse |

or waiting for it to arrive by trying this. Instead of clicking with your finger flat across the button, try crooking it and pressing further back at various locations. Works with the one I am now using. Might work with yours. (Another part of the "fix" - not recommended - was to pry the button up enough to slightly bend the plastic so the upward torsion was increased slightly.)

I guess I push them past their "Click-life".
