Electro Voice 664 VA
Edited on Mon Jun-16-08 10:33 AM by Steerpike1
Picked up a beautiful antique Electro Voice at an estate sale for 5 dollars. What do I need to hook it up to my XP computer?
Have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! PCI 24bit 5.1 soundcard and a 3 gig processor on a INTEL D865PERLX P4 865PE (800D4UAL) Motherboard...

it has a 4 prong connector

1. You'll need an impedance matching transformer
You can get one at Radio Shack that will also convert the XLR plug on the mic to a 1/4" plug.

Then you'll need to convert that 1/4" plug to a plug that will fit your mic input on your sound card. So probably a 1/4" jack to a 3/32" plug adapter. I'm not sure Radio Shack has those specifically but perhaps you could buy a 1/4" jack to a 1/8" plug adapter and a 1/8" jack to 3/32" plug adapter and then connect everything in a series. The other option would be to simply make it yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron.
