Confused - my Flash Player suddenly won't work any more.
I went into a site today that I use for my work, and which requires Flash Player to view. Instead
of the pictures I expected to see, there was a sign saying "you need to install Flash Player". I've
had Flash Player for years, but I dutifully clicked on the button. Flash Player was supposed to have
been reinstalled (although it seemed to be a bit quick to my thinking), but it wasn't. I tried again
by finding all the files relating to Flash Player and deleting them, then going through the
installation process again, but no luck.

I checked the Troubleshooting file on Macromedia, but in the end it said something about a change to
Windows Permissions, but not to attempt it unless you know what you're doing. Well, I don't know,
so I didn't try it.

Can somebody tell me what has happened, and why it should suddenly go ballistic on me after years of
using it? And do I need to call for professional help, or is there something I can do to restore it?

1. My IT Nazi's at work disabled Flash Player
I assume this is not your problem. Because of a recent security problem with Flash Player the computer group disabled it on my laptop at work. I know an update is available but I guess they are taking their sweet time to upgrade.

2. They have an uninstaller here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157

use it and then try to reload.

having deleted your files you might have to reinstall it, uninstall it, and then re-install it.

3. Brilliant!
That worked - thank you so much! I would never have figured that out myself.
