Any ideas on a way to convert online videos to a format that will play on regular home DVD players? |
|
or a service that does it? Most of the people in my backwoods area do not have Internet access and do not even have computers. They are limited to what they can get on satellite TV (we don't even get cable here), with the only "news" being CNN and the 3 major networks. I know Maine is solidly blue, so their uninformed votes aren't supposed to matter too much, but it seems that getting DVD compilations out to those without computers in swing states and to the just plain ignorant would be valuable.
My geek brother described a complicated process involving about 3 different programs to do such a conversion--I just do not have the time or know-how for it--not to mention, I don't even have a DVD burner to begin with and my CD burner even s**t the bed a while back. I'd love to be able to show many videos posted online to some neighbors who hate B*shit but still have not seen through McCain for the lying sack of pustulent animal dung that he is while also being brainwashed by the myths about Obama: he's Muslim (mainly), he's "just another politician," he a "marxist," etc. etc.
If someone created such a service I would guess it would be very busy and could be instrumental in waking some people up.

1. Without a DVD burner, I can't even imagine... |

Does this assume you will get a burner? If so, I'm sure we can describe something for you.
But it's obvious that you'd need a burner. No?
Although to be fair, it's true that many DVD players are able to play certain kinds of CDs -- so even if you have a CD burner, it would be better than nothing.
Of course, if you have a portable media player like iPod type thing, one that can play videos, then you can just take those around to your friends, but it's a small screen
So the answer is yes, there are ways, depending on the situation

2. I've had some success with Avi2Dvd and DVDFlick |

Expect to make some coasters when getting started though..
It is possible to put video on a CD but finding a format that all DVD players will accept is a bit tricky.
Bink Video Tools is another software that can create disks from downloaded videos.
