question - key on laptop fell off -
ok the key is the F key and the key top fell off over a year ago and I just have used the stem that was left, well that has now fallen off and so I have to hit the key hard to make it work which obviously interferes with typing - it is a toshiba laptop mx35 from about 3 years ago - any ideas?

1. Do the keys on that type of laptop just pop off?
One idea would be to pull off another key that you don't use too often and see if you can just pop it on.

3. wow I would be afraid to make it worse
the key is plastic and sits on top of a cone shape rubber thingy - can not figure how the thing stayed on to start with

5. On a regular keyboard, they just pull off and snap on
In fact I just pulled some keys off so I could blow the dust out of my keyboard

I'm not completely sure that laptops are the same though... but it'd be what I'd try, lol

8. Not quite the same
The keys on a laptop have much more delicate parts/assembly and can easily be broken to the point they will no longer stay on at all.

2. Try Ebay
Buy a new keyboard for roughly $20.00, search by manufacturer/model.

7. Laptops have replaceable keyboards
I've replaced lots of them.

Here is a Toshiba M35X keyboard listed on Ebay:

Here are instructions on how to do it:

If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, buy the keyboard and have your favorite local geek do it for you for a few bucks.

He's on eBay--I got a replacement key for a Toshiba A70 from him a couple years ago. He's a grad student at Dalhousie U. here in Halifax, and has a huge pile of keys in his apartment.

Hope this helps! :hi:
