The point is to get your credit card information.
You may or may not get anything from them, and what you may get is not guaranteed to work or is likely infected with a trojan.

Using a torrent is one way of transferring files across a network. Commercial software you find there is by and large pirated.
If you're trying to find big software packages for download, you're not going to find many legitimate ones. It's a growing business/marketing strategy but hasn't caught on yet for large packages. You can check Amazon's downloadable software store for examples of the kinds of things you can get.
