We have AT&T Uverse for both my computer and our TV. We're switching to |
|
Direct TV, so should I also go with them for my Internet access? I'm pretty ignorant technologically, unfortunately.

1. I have heard satellite broadband is a choice of last resort |
|
I have Dish Network for TV and DSL bundled with my local telephone carrier. I think Direct TV may be making similar offerers. That would be OK. DSL broadband is almost as good as cable depending on the plan you purchase. I have 3 MB down and 834K up and it is fine for what I need. If they are talking about satellite broadband I would stay away from that. There is an inherent delay in transmission time up and back that cannot be eliminated.

2. Direct TV has that nice price they give you |
|
then they turn around and try to add additional charges. These guys are pretty good at bait and switch so be careful.

4. It's not mere coincidence that the AT&T logo resembles the Deathstar.. |
|
We are in the process of going to cable after AT&T totally borked our internet access and then couldn't get it turned back on for over a week. The "customer service" was both stupid and rude.
Cable sucks rocks but AT&T bites..

5. Oh, the stories I can tell about AT&T customer support! |
|
A friend of mine called me. She had lost her internet connectivity and called AT&T customer support. She got a nice young man, that she could not understand, presumable in Bangalore or Mumbai, names "Sean" or some such. Riiiiight. You betcha booties, "Sean". She was on the phone with him for an hour and a half.
"Sean" had her make a total of 5 internet connection startups(AT&T, where she is, connects with that goddamned abomination, PPPOE). 5, count 'em 5. None worked. "Sean" finally says "I cannot help you any longer" and hangs up on her. She is left with 5 PPPOE startups on her desktop and bupkis.
She calls me.
I have her delete all the connections and on the net in 15 minutes. Tops.
"Sean" gets paid for his work. I cannot find a job.
