How can printer info in Windows XP disappear?? Mine did.
When I double click the Add Printer icon, it replies; Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running.

Yes I've tried that, and other things. I'm NOT a computer whiz either so this is freaking me out. It's all so frustrating. Haven't been able to print for several months now. Now I have to go read your links and attempt to try their advice. Thank you again!

3. Is your print spooler service running? |
|
Start > Run > services.msc
scroll through the list and see if you find "Print Spooler" and see what it says, let us know

It took a lot of reading and trying different things, but I finally got it running. Now it's back to the original problem it had, the computer not reading the USB port, I have to unplug it, then plug it back in to get it to work. Been messin' with it most of the day and now my brain hurts.
I'm going to bed.
Thank you & Good night!
