I configured thew windows so double-clicking on them would achieve the roll-up effect. The default is for the window to be maximized. Despite changing and verifying the setting, apps still maximize. Could this be a known problem?

1. KDE 4 and Compiz?

If so, yes. It's a KDE 4 problem specifically.

Are you using KDE 4.1.x?

If so, I'd suggest wandering over to OpenSUSE and finding the one-click install for KDE 4.2. It works better.

But you're still going to have problems with it, especially when it comes to desktop effects. It's still beta at best.
