windows 98 help, please
i am receiving the following error now matter what i click on, the old close/ignore window followed by this message when i click "close"

1. There is no easy answer
I assume that you are saying you can not run any software without getting this error? Do the programs themselves close after the error.

If you can not run any programs then it will be very hard to fix this, short of wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the OS.

Assuming you can run programs.

Have you checked out your spyware situation? Get and run the latest free version of Adaware.

You may have to run the computer in safe mode to get it cleaned up.

i believe it had something to do with a firefox extension. deleted, restarted, full steam ahead now.

3. Is this error occurring in certain programs?
I am not a techie but I do know that gdi.exe errors sometimes occur when closing windows in certain graphics programs like Picture It and also sometimes in Office. I think it may have something to do with compatibility between the software and OS. Were these programs operating properly before or did you just add them?

If no one can answer I suggest you search Knowledge Base at microsoft.com. I found a lot of help there with Win98 problems before I upgraded to xp.
