So all of a sudden everything is bold print.... |
|
Yahoo page, DU topics, everything is appearing in bold print although I made no changes that I know of. What gives?

The first one is Text Size-- go to View, then Text Size, and adjust it downward.
The second one is less likely but not impossible-- go to Tools, then Internet Options, then Accessability. There's a check box there to ignore text sizes-- if it's checked, then uncheck it. Uncheck any other boxes too. They override your normal settings, and some web site may have gotten hold of your IE and tweaked it.

I appreciate it though PN6. Very odd. I use firefox and when I pull up a Yahoo news story, for instance, the whole article is displayed in bold text, like somewhere there is a "b" command.
I think you are right about some web site getting a hold of things. Running all my spysweepers and stuff now...

i was able to reproduce the behavior you described in my Firefox browser ... the other poster may have been on the right track ...
when you make the font size larger in Firefox, it eventually switches to a bold font ...
to make it smaller, that might solve your problem, try this:
hold down the control key (CTRL) and simultaneously press the minus key (-) ... this should reduce the font size ... if you still have a bold font repeat the process ... when the text gets small enough, the bold font should disappear ...
to go the other direction and make the font larger (or bold), press the CTRL key and the plus sign (+) at the same time ...
let us know if this does the trick ...
good luck ...

I tried that, it changed the font sizes by reducing the 'magnification' but the font style is still heavy and bold. I am sure some web page changed my computer's default font setting. Interestingly, the same behavior is displayed when using IE!

Dig this. Somehow, Arial Regular font had completely vanished, so webpages using arial were defaulting to Arial bold, since it was the only font available.
Looking further on Microsoft:
"After you download and install the Microsoft Office update, you may encounter any of the following symptoms: The Arial font may not be listed in the Font box....."
Cripes almighty, 5 hours later I discover this!
