YES! The new machine is up and running!
Months of research (and help from youse guys) finally paid off, as I completed my first home build last night. I still have to do a few minor tweaks (I'm somehow missing the cable connecting the ROM drive to the onboard audio), but for the most part, it's running smoothly. I'd like to thank all of you who helped me along the way! :yourock:

1. Congrats!

What are the final specs?

A pic would be nice when you're able ... techno porn for techno junkies ya know. :-)

2. But of course...

-ASPIRE X-Dreamer ATXB3KLW-AL Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 420W Power Supply
Here's a pic. I went with silver since it will go well with the desk I plan on buying:

I like the case, but my only gripe is that the fans are a bit loud.
-ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Socket A (Socket 462) NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 ATX AMD Motherboard
-AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton 333MHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket A Processor (2.167 gHz)
-CHAINTECH SA5500T2 Geforce FX5500 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card
I decided against the higher-end video card I originally picked out, mostly for financial reasons, but also because I don't do gaming anyway.
-SAMSUNG SpinPoint P Series SP0802N 80GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive
-crucial 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) System Memory
-ASUS Silver 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E616P3-QT SLVR

I still have some future investments to make, namely a burner and more memory, but for now, it runs sweet. Also, Costco has 300gb SATA hard drives at a good price, which I can always add later, but 80gb is enough for now.

The only other little glitch I had is that the AGP slot did not line up properly with the back of the case, but I got it to fit nonetheless.
