problem installing Windows Recovery Console on XP SP2

I have XP SP2 installed, but the XP set disk is SP1A,(I bought the computer like this) any suggestions?

1. just find a SP2 cd and isntall Recovery Console from it

that should work. I don't believe that it would have any problems with it since you already have a working key and installation.

Is it a store bought unit or did you pick it up from someone used?

4. it's a noname brand

it got it from Ibuypower.com and have no problems (beyond typical windows problems)

Did it come with the PC? Was it pre-installed? Did you buy it separately? Was it installed from an XPSP2 disk originally or did you patch from XP/XPS1 to XPSP2? Without me looking, what is Ibuypower?

what you need to do is call ibuypower and tell them you bought a computer from them that came pre-installed with SP2 but they sent you a copy of XPSP1. Tell them they need to send you media only for SP2. Do not hang-up with them until they agree to ship you the copy. If they refuse and are adamant in doing so you can escalate by threatening to report them to MS's anti-piracy division.
