Help! I lost the password to my password file!

I password protected the Word document I store all my passwords in. Anybody know of a way to get back in? Its on NTFS if that matters...

Did you put encrypt the document normally, or did you use the "security" setting that allows you to create a 128 bit encryption key? If the latter, give it up, unless you have a few decades to spare on the standard PC.

If your password was simple, that is letters and/or numbers and not a mixture of lower and upper case, it won't be that hard. A simple brute force attack can get it fairly quickly. If the password is more complex, you could need help that cost anywhere from $25 - $60.

So, it boils down to what it is worth to you and how complex an operation it is going to be. Lots of variables involved.
