PC sound problem, need help |
|
Greetings gents and ladies,
Here is my problem. I recently unplugged and detached my periferals from by Dell PC. Put it in the car and transported to my dormitory room, a trip of about an hour. Well, know it is set up and everything works fine, except for my sound devices.
I have a pair of Harman/Kardon speakers plugged in to my PC, but for some reason the PC does not seem to recognize that they are even there. I go to "Control Panel" and click on "Sound Devices" and the PC indicates that there are "No Sound Deivces" even though the speakers are plugged in to the back!
Any Ideas or Advice?
Thanks In Advance!

1. Your computer has no idea what you have plugged in |

And it doesn't care. When it reports there are "No sound devices" what it seems to be telling you is that you have no audio hardware installed that it recognizes inside the computer. It may be that the car ride jostled your sound card and you need to simply reseat it into it's socket.

dbl click on "Add Hardware"
Follow the wizard's instructions. The first step it'll take is to check and see what you've got installed. If your sound card got uninstalled somehow, it'll show up and you can reinstall.
The computer can't tell if your speakers are plugged in or not--the 'sound devices' it's referring to is your sound card or onboard sound chip.
