A couple of questions....please help. I need to send homework over the net
I need to send in some Spanish assignments and can't make the accents or the ~ to go over the correct letters. I tried to change the "language" on my computer to Spanish but it does not seem to accept the application.
I could type the assignment in Word perfect, but something is wrong there too...the type is tiny and I get a message that says"the scale factor required to show these pages (1%)may be too small to guarantee an accurate display representation"
How can I fix Word perfect so I can use the symbols? Thanks

1. Here's a chart for the alt characters
I assume you're using Windows, so this should work.
http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/accents/codealt.html

Whenever you need to enter one of those characters, just hold down the ALT key while entering the appropriate four digit numeric code. Most word processors have a Symbols list that will let you insert the character with a mouse, but if you're going to be writing these a lot, you're probably better off learning the codes now.

If you're going to be doing this a WHOLE lot, you may want to consider swapping your US keyboard out for a European board that has the symbols on it already.

2. Windows Character Map
here's a çedilla ...

to do this (in Windows), click the "Start" button and click on "All Programs" ... then click on "Accessories", then "System Tools" then "Character Map" ...

in "Character Map", make sure the little checkbox is checked that's called "Advanced View" ...

now try to find the "letter / symbol combination" you're looking for (make sure you select the right font in the dropdown box at the top) ... so, for example, if you're looking for the letter "c" with a cedilla under it, you hopefully can find that in the list ... if you can, click the "letter / symbol" combo and then click the "select" button ... then click the "copy" button ... this stores the letter/symbol in your computer's memory buffer ...

finally, go to whatever program you're doing your homework in, say Microsoft Word, and either choose edit/paste or press Ctrl-v ... the letter/symbol should now appear in your document ...

if you repeatedly need to use the same characters, it might be useful to keep them in a special Word or notepad file ... then you know right where they are when you need them ...

hope this helps ...

5. I think all you need to do is highlight the character
then change font size in the drop down menu.

6. I tried that, it won't stay on the bigger font...I have to type in
a gigantic font so I can see it, then reduce it back to a normal size to print..
