1. Don't know what Pharos Notify is, but usually Zone Alarm pops up a window
asking if you will allow the program to access your computer, internet, act as a server, etc. Double click the zonealarm icon in your system tray so it brings up the zone alarm control panel, click "program control" on the left, and then click on the "file tab" on the top right that says "programs" (next to "main" which is the default screen). From there you should be able to see Pharos Notify and change its access privileges.

Good luck, hope this helps!

2. Not sure ...

I'm not real clear on what Pharos does in the sense of what kinds of access it requires to function properly. Based on what little I do know, I am guessing it requires a certain port to be open for its use, at least temporarily while it is active.

For most cases like these, all you have to do is go into Program Management, find Pharos on the list -- if it has tried to access the network, it will be listed, otherwise you can add it -- and give it permission to access the internet. If it requires that it act as a server, give it server rights as well.

I seem to recall you can even open individual ports, if it comes down to that being required, although I advise against it unless you are 100% sure the port you are opening will be protected from intrusion in some other way.
