So, the CAN-SPAM Act, as referenced at the bottom of spam emails... |
|
I actually looked up the act, which basically says that they can't spam you unless you agreed to a conspicuously placed and clearly worded offer to send you commercial email. Now none of us are idiot enough to do this, so emails claiming to be fully compliant with the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 are clearly lying off the bat. That said, is there a chance in hell that their Unsubscribe links will actually work, or is it the same ol' same ol', and clicking on Unsubscribe just verifies your email address to them and multiplies your spam drastically?
I note in passing that the latest batch all comes from N. Las Vegas, and started right after I donated to DU through PayPal. Thanks, PayPal!

Sometimes you just told them that your address is a good one, which means they can sell it for a bit more. I make it a rule never to respond. I use mail filters and Mozilla has a very nice sort of AI spam (junk) detector you can train to throw out what you don't want.
