I need Photobucket help, please
I got an account, studied tutorial and set up a FTP account. I did drop/drag of some pics and it worked but my web page looks nothing like the one in the tutorial. No icon to connect/disconnect but my real question is how do I transfer the pics to my posts? And how do I make one of them my avatar?(main reason I paid for Photobucket in the first place)
Thanks :-)

1. I didn't pay anything to register at Photobucket.
Perhaps you're using features that I don't, such as the FTP account. However, I can tell you that I just reformated my avatar image using my own photo software (MS Picture It!) to the proper size and as a jpg or gif and then I uploaded it to DU directly from my own computer. You just follow the instructions when you click on "use your own avatar" (or words to that effect) on the preferences page. Once it's uploaded, you're given a code that you copy and paste into the blank space and then submit.

To transfer photos to your posts, you sign on to Photobucket and click on the browse link to upload the desired photo and click "Submit." It then appears on that same page with three types of code underneath. Just copy and paste the url into your post and the photo should appear (click on preview to see how it looks before you post, if you wish.)

I hope this helps!

2. Yes, I got the FTP account
How do you use it to resize to 48x48?

3. I don't use Photobucket for resizing.
All it does (the free account, anyway) is let you reduce by half or a fourth but not to a specific size, that I know of. I use Picture It! to resize.

5. Here's what I know about it.
Picture It! is a commercial software program that you can purchase, though mine came loaded on my computer. Some other photo editing software programs are Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Photodraw. I think I read on here that someone resized an image using Microsoft Paint, which you may have on your computer (I don't.) You can resize the image using Word, but it would be by trial and error as to the pixel size as Word measures in inches.

Some of these programs (with limited features) come free with digital cameras and photo printers. Some may also be available through free downloads.

I'll bet if you start a new thread asking for advice on the best photo-editing software, you'll get some replies from people more experienced and/or knowledgeable than I am about this. I'm glad to keep trying to help if I can, though! :D

6. Oh, I really do appreciate your advice
I have MS Photo Editor. I use it to download camera pics to 'My Pictures'. That is where I get stuck. Someone suggested Photobucket so I downloaded pics to an 'album' and I'm stuck again!
This is so frustrating! Thanks for all your help, though.

8. I use Word and Photoshop before uploading to Photobucket.
I insert a text box into Word with a transparent background, crop, and resize. Then, I click the outside of the text box and click Copy.
I open Photoshop, click NEW, and paste the pic. I Save As a copy (jpeg or gif) and delete the original image.
I upload the copy to Photobucket.
Then, I can choose the square bracket image name for DU (Copy & Paste) or the <> image for my blog.

9. I have photobucket premium account, not sure what you are
having probs with? I think you just use the code that it generates when you upload the photo. ?? That's my thinking, but then again I am not a CG.
