is there a way to update firefox? |
|
without downloading just the highest version?
i looked at the download page, and don't see an update option, just a download link to the 1.5 version, currently running 1.4.
i don't want to lose my bookmarks, etc. I have downloaded the new version but not installed yet.
any advice appreciated. There's a reason of course why i'm doing this, which i will now provide: I haven't had any problems with Firefox to date, used it about 2 hours ago, then just now went to check my email, and my firewall popped up stating firefox had changed and was trying to connect to a remote site: 69.5.8.51, which i've id'd as FutureQuest.net.
i don't want to allow this connection right now since i don't know why it's going on, so am trying to runaround by installing another version that may work. At the present, any attempt to open firefox meets with my firewall popping up wanting permission to connect to remote, and if i deny, firefox times out.
not sure what is going on, but any advice would be appreciated.

it was mozilla that firefox was trying to update itself, i just read the ip address and didn't realize it was mozilla.org that was trying to establish a connection...to update itself.
guess i'm a bit paranoid these days.

2. has anyone else run the updates from firefox |
|
lately?
i'm currently downloading the updates that were supposedly 'critical to protect my computer' and the sucker is just running and running without any info as to how much or how long it's going to take ...
i downloaded the whole program in less time than the updates are taking. Are they worth the wait?
