DU images and Mozilla 1.7.5 ???
Hi!

I'm clueless here. A few weeks ago I was on dial-up and suddenly images would not load on DU anymore. I can see avatars, but no toons or photos. I can see things on most other sites, but not ebay, C&L is okay. I can see everything with, eww, IE, so I am pretty sure it's my Mozilla.

I didn't bother posting to ask for help until now because the crappy dial-up kept kicking me off every five minutes and I had hoped that the DSL would maybe solve the problem. No such luck.

I know we have some great computer minds that know their Mozilla here at DU so I'm hoping one of you will be around soon and can help. :) Oh, I have WinXP.

Peace
V

1. I use Firefox
but I expect the options interface is likely the same. Try clicking Tools on your menubar, then Options, then the Content tag. Make sure the Load Images For the Originating Website Only box is unticked.

I just tried to delete DU from manage images and re-entered it as an allowed site, nothing. :(

Think I should update and go with Firefox? Can I transfer my bookmarks, would you know? Or maybe run both?!

Thanks so much. :)

3. No need to switch
Unless it's something you'd want to do anyway. Be aware though, that Firefox is just a browser, not a suite of web programs like Mozilla. Yes, you can install and use both (and import your bookmarks) if you'd like.

One more thing you could try first, kind of an outside shot, is to see if your profile is borked. Shut down all instances of Mozilla, click the Windows Start button, then Run. In the command box enter "mozilla.exe -profilemanager" (without quotes). Create a second profile with a new name (there's a wizard that'll walk you through it). Tick the box that asks if you want the profile manager to pop up when you run Mozilla. When you're done, run Mozilla with the new profile and see if the image problem clears up.

4. Wow charlie, it worked!!!
I made a new profile and now have images!!! Yaahoo!!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart you sweetie! :toast: :bounce: :yourock:

I never would have thought of trying that.

I think I will try firefox, I am having a problem with Mozilla mail also and think it got corrupted somehow. Can't send out email. Tells me I need to check my address in preferences and need authentication to send mail.

Thanks again charlie, it's much appreciated!

Peace to you,
V
