WinXP: Ever set a web page as your desktop?
Has anybody done this? Experiences?

1. Yes, loooong ago
when MS introduced Active Desktop with IE4. It was a crash-prone horrorshow and after I found out how to disable it, I never went back. I'm sure it's stable nowadays, but I still won't use it. Having a desktop webpage means having a live instance of IE open to the web, and I keep IE blocked, raising it only to test webpages.

2. Just about the same here - supposed to be like Pointcast...
Quite frankly - I just didn't see the point of tieing up my resources for it as well.

Pointcast was 'hot' for a while:

Pointcast "pushed" its technology, which meant that info was updated, but many news websites refresh themselves automatically, etc.

The point is why not just open up a web browser window on the given webpage and press F11 to maximize? Same effect.
