HELP! I've lost my tabs in Firefox.
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 10:56 AM by Wilber_Stool
I downloaded something yesterday that included Google Desktop Search. After it started to log my system, I decided I did not want it(privacy concerns). I used the "Your Un installer" app to remove it. When it was finished, it told me that there were some folders that could not be un installed because they were being used and did I want to unistall them at startup. Without thinking I said yes. This morning when I logged on and opened Firefox my tabs were gone. I tried a system restore, no help. I went to the options and Tab Mix Plus options and reset everything to default. Nada.
I am running XP.
New info. I right clicked on my links bar and chose "open in tabs" and they all opened with tabs. However, when I click a link now, it opens in the tab I have open now. WTF?
I also tried reinstalling Firefox.

1. Question...
Just checking to make sure all bases were already covered....
Have you already gone into Firefox's Tools .. Options .. Tabs and selected your choices there yet?

3. Hmm.... Good one....
OK, type about:config in your address bar.
Type tab in the filter

Do you see any entry like

browser.tabs.forceHide
or
browser.tabs.autoHide

They should be set to FALSE. To toggle a setting between TRUE and FALSE, double-click the entry.

Fingers crossed.

Windoze sucks. I don't know what to tell you. I have to get some work done but if I run across anything I'll let you know. In the meantime, maybe you can post in the Firefox forum at
http://forums.mozillazine.org. They're a pretty responsive group.
Keep us posted!

6. Thanks again
I've been poking around in tab mix plus options and think I might have stumbled onto some things but I'm afraid to close and reopen
Firefox right now. I'll wait till later and get back to 'ya.

7. Well,
I seem to have my tabs back but I really don't know why. I think it might have been a problem with the session recovery feature. I closed FF and when opened all of the tabs came back. I hope it works after I reboot.
