My year old Epson C84 is getting close to croaking. Went on consumer reports and see there is an HP deskjet recommended. Checked Amazon and found 94 comments mostly negative about Epson - now, I LIKE my printer but it was actually a replacement for one that did the same "epson" thing. I did not know this was a problem until I read those comments last night and realized my experiences fit EXACTLY. (just stops working one day - after warranty is up and user wastes tons of ink and money trying to "clean" it, calls Epson, gets charged for out of warranty call and gets told you better just get a new printer, the repair is about the same price)
So what do DU computer people recomend for a home printer? I mostly print (copy) documents but do some graphic stuff (campaign posters etc) and some photos as well so I do need a good color printer. Kids do some homework - reports and photos etc.

an HP PSC1510xi at CostCo for $90 (not including a $20 rebate) after my 7-year-old Lexmark finally gave up the ghost.
Haven't printed any photos with it, but I've got a large format Epson that I use for that.
