My laptop won't charge up. |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 10:14 AM by Lisa0825
Hi y'all. I just bought a WinBook A 212 the end of November, and I already have a problem with it. :evilfrown: I used up the whole battery last night because I did not have the charger with me. I figured, no prob, I'll just charge it up at home. Well, NOTHING! No computer lights come on, and it doesn't seem to even try to start. I even left it plugged in overnight. The charger doesn't get warm at all either, but the indicator light on the charger DOES light up. I tried taking the battery out and replacing it too.
From the sound of it, can you figure out if the problem is more likely with the charger or with the computer itself? It's still under warranty, though I don't know what "limited" limits that to. But I dont' want the hassel of sending it back.
Thanks!
edited to add: Could it be a dead battery after only 3 months???
edited again: AAARGH! I have been reading tech forums, and now someone mentioned having had an update right before a similar problem. Now I remember that there was an automatic update last night. Any ideas?

I went ahead and called them, and I am sending it in. Oh well. I was hoping to figure out something so I didn't have to wait 2 weeks to use it again.

2. If my Thinkpad runs out of battery, and is totally drained |
|
I have to take out the battery to reset with electric supply. Does that make sense? Then I can put the battery back in and it charges.

3. Laptop motherboard electrical problem |
|
The techs probably asked you to hold the power button for ten seconds, then try again.
No LEDs?
Take out the memory chips and put 'em back in.
No LEDs?
Send it in. They'll give you a new motherboard since you're under warranty.
Nothing to do with the battery.

Try pluging it in without the battery in and see if it turns on. See if another AC adapter works. Pull the RAM, wireless card, hard drive and CDROM and try to power it on (but only if you can do so w/o voiting the waranty).
If these things don't work find the nearest factory authorized repair deopt or send it in for service.

7. I have the very first Winbook that had a color screen! |
|
NO, I'm not using it now...
I remember there was a delay on them, and the customer service person told me that they were coming out with a COLOR version the same time when my backorder was due to arrive.
It has that "dust catcher" trackball.
I can't remember what the speed was, like a 386 25 Mhz..
I also paid FOUR *HUNDRED* FIFTY DOLLARS for an external CD Burner!
I ended up returning the "docking station" however - any slight movement would reset the thing...

8. I remember those days too. |

I ran the 1st major manufacturing project in our company "offline" on a Dell 325N. The DP guys were very unhappy that we didn't 'follow the rules' using the system mainframe MRP. Problem was, it was impossible to manage the BOM and the quick rescheduling requirements needed for this job. Think it had a 20MB harddrive. Major step up front the IBM PCs that required booting the MS_DOS and LOTUS 1-2-3 from floppies....
