Logitech keyboard with paint chipping off keys! |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 07:01 PM by Digit
I purchased a new keyboard the end of November after my old keyboard became possessed and would type different characters other than the ones I was typing.
I noticed the paint started coming off of the I and O keys, so I returned it a several weeks ago. I had my receipt with me. They did not mark anything on my receipt, they just swapped it out for a new one.
NOW, the new one is doing the same thing, so I called the store. The guy said since I had "had it for so long" he doubted they could do anything. I let him know that this one is only THREE weeks old, and he said they have to mark my receipt when I exchange/return an item. It is not my frigging fault their employee didn't follow proper procedure and besides, what difference does three weeks mean anyway????
I told him I was DONE with the Logitech and wanted something that would last. Of course, I am willing to trade up at their store
I have owned computers since the days of the Atari 800, and have NEVER encountered this problem before. I don't think I am being unreasonable to expect a keyboard to last more than 4 months.

1. Have you tried contacting Logitech? |
|
They make the keyboard and are answerable for the poor construction quality. Most lower-end keyboards have this problem, actually, not just Logitech.

2. This was not my first Logitech keyboard....no problems w/first one |
|
I know, that was years ago, but still...it lasted more than a year.
Yes, I thought I would let Logitech know that what they were doing or having done by someone else, was NOT WORKING. I have a funny feeling that if I had the box, I would see that it was built in China. More cheap crap built by people taking jobs away from people in the states.
All to put more money in the stock holders and CEO pockets.

3. I have the same issue ... |
|
I don't buy expensive keyboards because I have this habit of destroying them in various ways. I consider it a regular expense like buying gasoline for the car.
The last one I bought, a Logitech, started losing its paint a couple months after I got it. It's not terribly obnoxious to me since I touch-type, but it was a bit surprising.
Basically, you need a keyboard with the characters molded into the keys rather than simply painted on. If you type a lot, a painted-on set of characters will eventually degrade. Lower quality paints will degrade faster.
Is it a black keyboard, by chance? Black keyboards often have this problem worse than the tan or off-white ones.
