IE keeps deleting my cookies

This is driving me crazy. Every time I exit IE it seems to delete all my cookies so the next I time I load it I have to log in again to all my favorite sites.

I checked my internet settings but there doesn't seem to be a "purge cookies on exit" setting or anything like it.

Any ideas? I've been a programmer for 20 years so I know my way around the O/S and the registry but this has me stumped.

1. Check your Advanced tab...

IE menu bar, Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced tab:

Scroll down to the check boxes under "Security." Verify that the "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed" check box is cleared.
