How to Unblock a Code on a Fax Machine?
There is a nice new-looking Pitney Bowes 9920 fax machine at work which I have permission to take for office use. Problem is, the previous user seems to have required that a code be entered for any outgoing faxes. That user has left the company and there seems to be no way to get the code.

Is there a way I can reboot the machine or get around the code in some way? Would appreciate any suggestions. (I realize this is not strictly computer-related, but some of the same basic knowledge and skills might come in handy.)

1. Did you check the users manual
it may have a default passcode you can enter.

No, really, Google IS your friend.

I just looked for Pitney Bowes -- hadn't even thought a search that specific would work.

4. Remember to check out "groups" as well..
Although it predates the world wide web, google 'groups' (see the link above their search box) accesses usenet, which is THE internet "message board"...

My experience is that if I'm otherwise not doing something very unusual, someone else has had the same problem and asked for help about it (and 25% of the time, gotten help!)

5. I Was Looking for "User Groups" Too
but hadn't found a one. But I was uding Yahoo -- hadn't realized that Google included usenet. Decided DU would be worth a check before narrowing it down.

6. By the Way, the "9920" Code Worked!
We now have a functioning fax machine without spending a dollar. Thanks again.
