Hijack this is your friend, I went through my log and wrote down the entries that didn't look right, then off to google. I found the culprit winbrume.dll was the problem, I got rid of it and everything is right in the world.
People who put this crap on your computer are less than human.

3. I got a bug
some nasty spyware/malware, my virus shield caught it and alerted me, but I wasn't paying attention, usually when it alerts I just hit okay and it denies entry. This thing had moved into the okay slot and when I hit ok it opened the door and came on in.

I tried all the anti spy stuff I've got, spybot s/d, adaware, spyblaster, I ran my anti viral program nothing worked. I updated everything, no luck, this was a nasty bug that wouldn't let me download anything that would kill it.

Whenever I tried to go to a site to download a spy killer it either misdirected me to a worthless website or back to my desktop. So I bought a copy of Webroot's spysweeper, but it was the previous version, and this bug wouldn't let me update to the newest edition.

I sent a report to Webroot, and they're working on finding a solution now, but, being impatient I kept working on getting rid of this nasty.

I managed to get through to the Hijack This page through Castlecop's site, and got Hijack This downloaded, After running a system scan I started going through the list,

I found some suspicious entries and googled them, a redflag was waved when I typed in winbrume.dll the symptoms matched, I went back ran another log, had Hijack This fix the entry, I've had no problems since. I've updated Spysweeper and really like the new version.

so all is right in the world again.

4. Thanks.
Sounds like persistence paid off. Well done.

Many, in similar circumstances, would have reformated their drive and restarted from scratch.
