Question about doing a "Search" using XP Pro. |
|
I know (of course) how to use the search feature in windows but is there a program that lets you choose the drives to scan?
I mean, I have a 200gig HD with 7 partitions.....I try to keep "C:" fairly clean and use the other partitions for storage and stuff but if I want to scan my drive (s) with the windows seach , as you know, it will only let you scan either one partition or ALL partitions.
Sometimes I just want to scan ...say..partition D and F but can't with the XP search.

Mine lets me select individual drive letters, although I don't actually have multiple partitions on the same disk. Have you tried including the drive letter in the search field?
For example, "H:\*readme.txt"

Just realized I completely misunderstood the question :)
So this probably won't help at all :(

'all files and folders'
you should then get a dropdown box that lets you select individual drives.

3. He wants to search 2 or more partitions at once |
|
Unfortunately, Windows search doesn't have an option to do that. Neither does my preferred search program, Agent Ransack.
