It's not a complicated or big one. I am paying $33 a month and wondering whether I could do better elsewhere.

1. sounds very high ... depends on the size of the site
check out these alternatives:

www.crystalTech.com and www.1and1.com

you can find sites for much less than you're paying ...

3. It depends upon the service...
I charge $75 to host one companies' website and email - but their email is 50 VERY ACTIVE users. They really don't use the website that much, but they do have a very active FTP site...

They're a printing business and constantly email large attachments.

If something happens to the server, I'm up until it's back online again. That's Saturday night, Sunday, whatever it takes.

I remember dealing with one "discount" host... They had no phone number, and trouble tickets took 24 hours on WEEKDAYS. And wouldn't you know it? EVERY TIME we needed help it was on Thursday afternoon - so we didn't get anything done until the following MONDAY.

To answer your question, however, $33 is way out of line for what you probably want to do - just don't commit yourself for long term until you have a change to test everything out for at least two months...

4. That sounds like too much to me
I have my site hosted for about $87 a year. That's 30 gig of bandwidth and 30 email addresses. Check out Bravenet, they are reasonable and very stable.
