I had set up a wireless network in my home and it was working perfectly... until... router crapped out and had to replace it, then upgraded the wireless adapter for my laptop. Here's the problem: My 2 computers "see" each other but won't allow access no matter what I do. My brother (Electronic Engineer) tried all weekend to get it up and running with no success. Any ideas on solutions? Is it possible to "delete" a network setup entirely and then start from scratch?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :argh:

1. Something that worked for me in a similar case |
|
(although I don't know why- I hit on it accidentally)
Go into your Users and disable the Guest account on one computer, THEN try to access it with the other machine. When I tried it, a logon screen popped up with Guest grayed out. I cancelled out of it, re-enabled the Guest account, and tried to access the machine again. This time it worked without any further problems.
As I said, it worked for me after I had to reinstall WinXP on one of my home network machines and it would not grant normal access even though I had shared several of its folders. I can't explain it, and I've only done it once.
Good luck.

2. Thanks for the idea. I'll try |

this and see what happens. I can see some logic in why it might work, as a security measure.
