ok how long has it been? Finally coming to you through Firefox

Seems pretty similar to that other browser, except missing "favorites" down the left side of screen (I had it squeezed narrow and usually left it open so I could go back and forth between two or three places)

Any tips, hints advice now that I finally loaded this and am using it? Why didn't someone just say it looks almost the same?

1. Tip #1

Hit CTRL-B

Then your bookmarks will be down the left side of the screen.

BTW, you're not going to need that as much. You just open those two or three places in different tabs and go back and forth between those.

Now that it's installed, you need to do some tweaking to get the most out of it. The first thing I do is make the tabbed browsing feature work mostly within one window. (The defaults are set up to be somewhat IE-like, apparently to ease the transition.) In Windoze, I think you go to Tools > Options > Tabbed Browsing (or Tabs, I forget) and make sure the following boxes are checked:

Open links from other applications in:

- A new tab

- Force links that open a new window to open in:
- A new tab

Now uncheck the Hide tab bar when only one website is open.

If you don't like this behavior, you can change it around later, but doing it at first will get you familiar with the features.

When the tab bar is always open, it means you can double-click on the bar itself and open a new tab and then load something in it from your bookmarks or wherever.

If you want to force a link you click to open in a new tab rather than the current one, press the CTRL key and then click the link. I do this a lot when I'm posting to DU. It let's me keep the message composition pane there while I go somewhere else and look something up.

Be sure to open Tools > Themes, then click on Get New Themes. That will open a new window that takes you to Mozilla's page of themes, so you can change the appearance.

After that, you'll want some extensions.

2. Under Tools/Options/General you can select

a bookmark as your homepage. A bookmark can be a folder or group of several URLs. If you select a group, they will all appear as separate tabs and you can click between your favorite sites easily using those tabs.

Another thing to look at, in order to make Firefox work in whatever way is most convenient for you, is the option to customize the toolbar at the top. Right click on the toolbar and you will see how it works.

And of course, you can add extensions to do virtually anything you want on the net. (Tools/Extensions.) Adding extensions will also add more options for customizing the toolbar.

4. ahhh so that is what "tabs" meant
