If anyone is in touch with rescue groups dealing with NOLA animals..
please ask them to be on the lookout for a female dilute calico (white cat with beige and black splotches) who is less than a year old and has only one eye, which is blue. She is owned by a homeless man named Joseph who had her taken away from him outside of the Superdome as he was getting on a bus. Another cat forum where I post has located Joseph, whom I gather is a fixture in the French Quarter, largely because "Patches" is always on his shoulders. They and he are now desparately trying to find her. A lot of the current shelters have been visited by people in the area, but with all of the movement of the animals, it's hard to say where she may be.

Further information as well as photos of Joseph and Patches can be found here:

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

1. I see from the website that most of the rescues have been contacted.

I wish him and his guardian all the best.

2. Wow -- they have up a pic of a cat that might be Patches...
The cat in the pic is fine - in a shelter...

Check the pic of Joseph and Patches:

Then the pic of the cat in the shelter:

What do you think?

3. They've sort of changed their minds about that cat..
who does not seem to have the black marking on her face.

They did manage to find Joseph's human g/f though.

4. I think you are right --
The additional pics of patches at the site - the ones with her alone - look different from the one at the shelter.

5. yes, someone from nola.org got those to us..
She remembered the story. I actually edited and posted some of them (as Lucia). They were taken at night, at a distance, and had a yellow cast because she was outside of a restaurant. I think the colors are more accurate in the professional pics because they were taken during the day, but at least one gets a greater idea of her markings. She's definitely a siamese mix, I think.

6. I don't think that it's her
the black markings aren't there, and the Petfinder cat is well fed-not as lean as Patches.I certainly hope that they find her. I'll ask our rescue team members to keep an eye out for her when they go up there next week.

Damn, those people need to learn to take better photos for ID of these animals!

7. Poor Joseph and Patches :(
I hope they are happily reunited.

She's such a pretty girl, and he look so happy with her perched up on his shoulder.
