Question about pregnant cat... |
|
or rather, determining if she IS pregnant. The shelter sent a supposedly pregnant momma home with me almost 2 weeks ago. No kitties yet. She is a big girl, and the shelter lady said she felt movement. Due to the hurricane evacuation, and the trauma of getting captured, kept in the shelter, and moved around from place to place, momma is pretty skittish. She finally came out of hiding and let me love on her last night. She lets me pet her belly, but if I try to hold my hand still on her belly or press at all, she gets testy.
So, my question is, without upsetting her, is there any easy way to tell if she's pregnant or just a chubby kitty? I don't feel her nipples, and her fur is too thick to see them. I can't tell if she has gotten bigger only recently, because she was just captured when I got her. Now that she's gotten friendlier and accustomed to her kitty suite, I'll try to get pictures of her tonight.
Is there any other option other than just wait and see?

If you think your cat might be pregnant, first check her nipples. These become enlarged early and will be noticeably pinker. Like this. < >
