re: " PlaqueOff Animal " for tartar and doggy breath

http://international-dental.com/whatisplaqueoff.html

....'ProDen PLAQUEOFF® was formulated and a patent application filed for a tablet which prevents coatings of plaque and tartar, without their having to be scraped away by a dentist or dental hygienist. The active ingredient in ProDen PLAQUEOFF® is a natural vegetable substance derived from specific strain of maritime algae harvested above Norway and Iceland in the Polar Circle. When ingested, the ingredients are absorbed into the bloodstream and then impart to the composition of the saliva an ability to dissolve tartar and to prevent new layers from gaining a foothold. ...'

____

We have two yorkies. Cubby developed foul breath recently and I knew something was wrong. He is now scheduled for a cleaning and extraction. Tori has milder doggie breath.
The dogs get their teeth brushed daily, but still there was the breath problem. We bought PLAQUEOFF two days ago. It comes in a small bottle and the 'scoop' is about 1/3" in diameter. My dogs require a half scoop a day and at this rate, the one bottle ( $19.99) will last them 6 months. The product is supposed to take two to eight weeks to take effect, but it has been only two days and Cubby's foul breath is gone. He has very mild breath and Tori has none. ( I've been sticking my nose in their faces! )

The product looks like ground oregano and the dogs seem to relish the flavor.

I hope the human version is just as good as the animal version!

1. One of my dogs had really bad breath and problems with plaque.
It was s symptom of her chronic renal failure. Have you asked your vet about possible causes of the bad breath just to be on the safe side?

2. My vet just recommended it for my cats a week ago.
They have gingivitis. The vet is homeopathic and doesn't want to do dentals until we've tried everything else. I haven't ordered it yet -- thanks for the link!

4. This sounds WONDERFUL!
We've just given up Greenies as a result of scare stories about dogs choking on them (and my Golden does *not* chew his thoroughly so it as increased risk).

We may have to try Plaque Off!
