Cat Demands Attention By Launching Self At Human's Torso
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 06:46 PM by ocelot
I've never known a cat who did this -- anybody else have a critter like this? Milo LOVES attention, and if he feels he's being ignored he'll dash toward me squealing "MREEEEE!" and then he flings himself at my chest so I have to catch him. Then I have to carry him around while he purrs like a jet engine. He does this all the time. It's funny, but it's also sometimes a bit startling.

1. Wow! You are LOVED and TRUSTED!
Imagine the trust you would have to have in someone to fling yourself at them and know that you would be caught and carried.

Milo is a Beautiful Boy!

:-)

3. That is too funny!
Cats certainly are unique creatures and your Milo is something else!

Mine only does the flying leap when I am sleeping on the couch so she can then fall asleep on top of me.
Good thing she is only 7 pounds. :-)

4. Pad Thai does this
He'll jump into my arms or on my shoulders. Usually I only hear one loud MEOOOWWRRR! as warning then he jumps, snuggles and purrs!

He tries to get my attention in the morning so he can whine at me about going to work. In the evening he jumps on me when I come home. I just have to drop the mail and give him his lovin's before doing anything else

5. Mine jumps on my SO's huge shoulders
She then winds around his neck like a stole. She doesn't try it with me.

Milo is adorable

6. Awwwww... sweet!!!!
The visual I had of it made me literally LOL right as my boss walked by, so now she nows I wasn't working! Thanks a bunch!

My foster kitty doesn't do that, but he runs ahead of me, and then lies down on my foot, purring like a jet engine so I will stop and pet him! :loveya: If I happen to be walking briskly, it can be a bit dangerous!LOL

7. You should get a snuggly
My parent's Siamese doesn't jump at them, but does insist on being held and carried around.

9. I had to use something like that when Puck was younger
If I didn't carry her she would climb up my side and perch on my shoulder-ouch!I got a cloth shoulder bag that I wore like a snuggly while I worked. I did the same with a baby raccoon who would scream if I left her alone for a nanosecond (only she preferred the large front pocket in my windbreaker).

11. I had a self-launching projectile feline once!
My smaller F calico likes to ride on my shoulder-- sometimes my larger M (about 13 or 14 lbs.) would see her up there and decide he wanted to ride too so he'd hurl himself at me and nearly knock me over.

13. Boots does pretty much the same thing
When Boots wants attention, all 15 pounds of him jump on me in the morning while I sleep. That's how he wakes me up--after he has slept on top of my feet at night!

During the day, when he wants attention, he jumps around the house, leaps on the furniture, scratches it, and then jumps on top of the armchair and proceeds to gnaw on my wrist.
